Lucasfilm has just recently announced that they will be releasing a new anime series called Star Wars: Visions. In the past, some of the most popular anime series such as Star Wars and Dragon Ball Z have been shown on American television. The new series will explore both the lives of famous characters, and the development of the Star Wars universe.

One of the most anticipated of the last few years, Star Wars: Visions debuted at this year’s Tokyo International Anime Fair, and the first trailer has now been released. Star Wars: Visions is a collaborative project between the official Star Wars games division and the anime and manga distributor “Toei Animation”. The project will make use of the 3D CG animation that Lucasfilm continues to develop for their major franchise films, but this time with a Star Wars twist.

Star Wars fans, specifically those who enjoy the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, can certainly be happy to hear that Lucasfilm is releasing a new Star Wars anime series entitled Star Wars: Visions. The new anime series is set to debut on television on Disney XD in 2019, and will be based on the new animated series Star Wars: Rebels. In the series, the franchise’s classic Star Wars characters will travel to other worlds and discover or rediscover the Force. The Star Wars: Visions anime series is set to premiere on Disney XD in 2019.

The first trailer for Lucasfilm’s new program, Star Wars: Visions, has been published.

Star Wars: Visions is an anticipated anthology series that will premiere exclusively on Disney+ and explore new Star Wars tales through the eyes of different Japanese anime artists. There will be a total of nine animated shorts available, each with either the original Japanese voice cast or an English version.

While most anime fans prefer the original Japanese language tracks, Star Wars: Visions has an impressive English voice cast. It features Temuera Morrison, the original Jango Fett and Boba Fett actor, as well as other well-known actors like as Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat), Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels), and Neil Patrick Harris (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) (Starship Troopers).

“Lucasfilm is partnering with seven of the most talented anime studios in Japan to bring their signature style and unique vision of the Star Wars galaxy to this inspired new series,” says James Waugh, executive producer and Lucasfilm Vice President, Franchise Content & Strategy.

“Their tales represent the entire range of daring storytelling found in Japanese animation; each is presented with a freshness and voice that broadens our perception of what a Star Wars narrative might be, and honors a galaxy that has inspired so many creative storytellers.”

Beginning September 22, 2023, Star Wars: Visions will be available exclusively on Disney+.

Kamikaze Douga – “The Duel”; Geno Studio (Twin Engine) – “Lop and Och”; Studio Colorido (Twin Engine) – “Tatooine Rhapsody”; TRIGGER – “The Twins” and “The Elder”; Kinema Citrus – “The Village Bride”; Science Saru – “Akakiri” and “T0-B1”; and Production I.G.
