As humans, we’re not very good at math, which is why we tend to rely on other people to schedule our work, otherwise known as management. Bosses do the job, though, and are usually pretty good at it. These bosses are the hardest part of any job, and it’s no wonder that many of us can’t stand them.

It’s been said that the best way to understand a boss is to understand what motivates them. It may sound cliché, but it’s true. Understanding their motivations can help you win.

Don’t be fooled by how peaceful the waters seem to be.

You’ll need to get your hands filthy if you’re a treasure seeker!

Many novice crews have been sunk by fierce opponents guarding some of the finest treasure in the game.

So, if you want to succeed where they failed and sail away with a fortune beyond your wildest dreams, you’ll have to battle tooth and nail to get there.

But let’s discover which among the hardest bosses in Sea Of Thieves puts up the most of a fight.

Captain Skeleton, number ten

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

The modest Skeleton Captain is first on the list, as shown by the red name over its head.

Captains like this may be seen on islands all around the globe.

The amount of health these Skeletons have distinguishes them from regular Skeletons. To kill a regular Skeleton with your sword, you’ll need approximately 3 hits, but these will take about 16.

If you just keep slicing, you’re unlikely to be injured.

These Captains are well worth defeating since they drop Villainous Bounty Skulls, which are very valuable – especially if you have an Emissary Flag for the Order Of Souls.

9. Guardian of the Ashen

Tomes that unlock Achievements and Commendations are found in Ashen Chests.

Interested?

Fighting an Ashen Guardian is a fantastic method to increase your chances of obtaining these chests!

The battle is identical to that of a Skeleton Captain, although these men have a little more health.

An Ashen Guardian will drop a Villainous Bounty Skull, as well as a Riddle or Treasure Map, if defeated.

That Ashen Chest is yours if you finish that map. However, sheer force won’t be enough to unlock it; you’ll also need an unique Ashen key.

8. The Keymaster of Ashen

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

The Ashen Keymaster is more difficult to find than the Ashen Guardian, but the battle is the same.

However, it drops (you guessed it) an Ashen Key when it dies!

To unlock Ashen Chests, you’ll need those keys.

But don’t worry if you can’t locate one of these Keymasters (they’re very uncommon), since Larinna can sell you a key at any Tavern.

Megalodon is the seventh dinosaur.

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

This beast tormented the Sea Of Thieves once upon a time.

It’s more of an annoyance nowadays. However, if you don’t want to become fish food, there is a good and incorrect method to approach the encounter.

The Megalodon may appear in a variety of hues, but the battle remains the same.

You may also opt to avoid this encounter by sailing near to an island, where the Megalodon will leave you alone.

If you wish to take on this massive shark, you’ll need as many cannons as possible, and you’ll have to fire on sight. Anyone who can’t climb on cannons may use a weapon like the Eye Of Reach or even the new Trident to fire the Megalodon.

If your ship is moving as well, the Megalodon may be difficult to follow. So it’s a good idea to come to a halt in open sea.

If you need to get away quickly, use your sails to do it!

The Megalodon has just one attack: a strong charge that may tear holes in your hull and hurl any crew members on deck into the water.

You won’t be attacked in the sea, either, since the Megalodon would rather to devour your whole ship. However, any damage must be dealt with immediately!

You can stun the Megalodon with a few well-placed cannon rounds while it’s charging if your crew is precise.

Victory and a good windfall of riches will be yours if you keep the damage under control and keep landing those cannon rounds.

Also, rumor has it that the waters are haunted by an exceedingly rare ghostly Megalodon, so keep a look out for it!

6. The Lords of the Skeleton

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

If your group is bold enough to take on a Fort, be aware that you’ll be up against this formidable foe as well.

At Forts, a Skeleton Lord stands between you and a vault of wealth, and they should not be taken lightly.

Your team will triumph in this battle if you know what to anticipate.

Don’t hurry since Skeleton Lords have a lot of health.

When you have the opportunity, attack from afar.

There will always be an ammunition container on the Fort, so attempt to persuade the boss to come over to it. After then, it’s simply a matter of dancing about and shooting.

If you battle the Skeleton Lord close enough, he may send you directly to the Ferry of the Damned. So only engage in sword combat if absolutely necessary.

There’s just one assault to be aware of as long as you have food: a stomp attack that will hurl you across the island. If you die here, don’t worry; you may use the time to examine your surrounds for any other Pirates who might want your Fort treasure for themselves.

If you’re having trouble fighting the Skeleton Lord, another strategy is to attempt to draw it towards your ship.

They won’t follow you into the water; instead, they’ll simply stand on the beach. Nothing, no matter how powerful, can stand up to a cannon!

A Trident of Dark Tides is another option (which was just introduced to the game).

If you get the opportunity, use them to do massive damage to the Skeleton Lords.

Skeleton Ship (#5)

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

Regardless of how successful you are at avoiding other ships, a Skeleton Ship will eventually emerge from the depths to attack you.

These are hazardous, and if you don’t get rid of them, they’ll follow you to the ends of the world.

Sloop and Galleon are the two types of Skeleton Ships.

Although the battles are technically identical, there are a few factors you should be aware of if you don’t want to lose your whole fortune to Davy Jones Locker.

First and foremost, Skeleton Ships do not follow the rules. They have the ability to accelerate and decelerate on the fly, as if they had engines.

It’s pointless to attack their masts.

So you’re going to battle with good ol’ cannonballs?

It’s OK to use the occasional Cursed cannonball, but you may want to reserve them for actual pirates.

In this battle, you’ll also need a solid helmsman, and the objective is to maintain the Skeleton Ship in cannon range while staying out of theirs.

Skeleton Ships are known for breaking the rules anytime they choose. To gain greater control, keep your ship at half-mast. Open fire with cannons as frequently as possible, attempting to pierce their hull with bullets.

This is especially essential versus Galleons, who have two decks. If you want to rapidly sink them, shoot below the waterline whenever possible.

Skeleton Ships have the ability to land shots that most pirates can only dream of. So get out your bucket and planks.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, hitting their deck with cannonballs or firebombs is a fantastic strategy. You’ll get a chance to recuperate if no one is manning their guns.

Always remember that Skeleton workers only repair holes, not bail water.

So take your time and be cautious.

Make sure you come to a complete stop when you observe their ship come to a standstill and sink. Take a seat and wait for your treasure to float to the surface!

4. Kraken

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

This deep-sea monster is terrifying and frightening, and it has sunk many ships.

The screaming is the worst part of this encounter until you know how to manage it.

The Kraken will only attack if there are no other global events going on, and you won’t be able to escape it.

It’s too late if the water surrounding your ship begins to turn black. And this is how you deal with the situation:

When the tentacles appear, your first priority is to shoot them.

Because your ship can’t move much, you’ll have to wait for targets to get within range, which may be difficult.

The Kraken, unfortunately for you, has a few terrible assaults.

It has the ability to grasp your spacecraft, causing damage to the hull. Cutting a grasping tentacle is useless, no matter how enticing it seems.

Shooting everything that comes within range is still your best chance.

Its most deadly assault is one that can pull your personnel off the deck completely.

You can finally break free with your cutlass, but the Kraken will typically toss you. This is terrible since you can’t repair any damage, and if your whole crew is swallowed, the ship will almost certainly sink.

Make sure you’re talking to your crew, and if there’s just one person on board, they should remain below deck repairing holes until someone comes back.

When you kill enough tentacles, or when your spacecraft slowly wanders out of the region, the battle will finish.

Regrettably, the Kraken lacks substantial funds. As a result, fighting it will get you just a little amount of gold — despite the fact that Kraken Meat is one of the finest food items in the game!

3. Lord of the Flesh

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

It’s one of these if you want to know what’s in the heart of that huge scary red tornado on the map.

They’re also very powerful!

For this event, three distinct Ashen Lords may spawn. They all have various appearances, but the battle is the same.

To begin, dock your ship a long way away from the island and launch yourself into battle in a cannon.

In a moment, I’ll explain why.

The Ashen Lord is ruthless and has a limited number of attacks. It also raises Skeletor troops. They only take a few of blows with the cutlass, but if they group up on you, they can deal a lot of damage!

In addition, the Ashen Lord possesses two of the game’s most vexing attacks:

One in which any adjacent water will boil and harm you, and another in which the region is blanketed in dense fog, making visibility almost impossible (let alone shoot).

Actually, it’s all about shooting…

Shooting the Ashen Lord is the safest method to harm it. The Blunderbuss deals the greatest damage, but it’s also the most dangerous.

Use the Eye Of Reach if you want to be safe.

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

Make it your main goal to locate an ammunition box near the monster that never runs out of ammo.

After inflicting enough damage to the Ashen Lord, they’ll kneel and let you use your Cutlass for a few swipes. This will happen two more times throughout the fight, and on the third occasion, you will win the battle.

You must be very cautious in the latter stages of this battle.

Remember how I told you to keep your spacecraft parked far away?

When they’re near to death, the Ashen Lord may make it rain flaming rocks. These boulders may kill you in a single strike, and if you park too near, your ship is likely to get struck as well.

It will sink if you are not present.

In terms of strategy, the best course of action is to store up on food, shoot as much as possible, and don’t worry about dying. You’ll wind up back on your ship if you die, and you may simply keep throwing yourself into the fight until you win!

The rewards are definitely worth it, with riches strewn around — including the coveted Ashen Winds Skull, which sells for 10,000 Gold!

2. The Skeleton Navy

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

I hope you’re up for a battle, since the last bosses on our list are the most difficult.

The Skeleton Fleet is a fun yet challenging event in which three waves of Skeleton Ships attack you.

These act like normal Skeleton Ships, except they sometimes come in pairs, which may put even the most experienced pirates to the test.

There isn’t a consistent trend here. As a result, expect to face a mixture of Sloops and Galleons.

There is usually an extra difficult ship in the last wave.

But if you win, you’ll be rewarded handsomely! If you can stand the heat, this event is well worth your time.

What happens if you can’t stand the heat?

Here are some pointers to get you started:

To begin, hoist your sails to half-mast, exactly like you would with regular Skeleton Ships. This offers you greater power and allows you to interact on your own terms.

Keep in mind that the opposing ships never leave, just to repair gaps.

So relax and take your time.

This occurrence typically occurs around a rock formation. So, if you’re having trouble, start with them.

Enemy ships will crash and do all kinds of weird things to get a clean shot at you since they can’t maneuver around them.

You may even get the ships to crash with each other, which would do massive damage.

Is this a bit of a corny strategy? Maybe.

But in the Sea Of Thieves, there are no rules, so why should this boss battle be any different?

Flameheart No. 1

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

This is the big one, oh boy.

Flameheart enjoys trash talking during the battle. And, well, he’s got the muscle to back it up.

This mission requires a well-trained team.

There’s no way to hack this one, unlike the Skeleton Fleet.

Flameheart controls a fleet of Ghost Ships and isn’t hesitant to sacrifice a few to get you to the Damned Ferry.

What matters most is that you know what you’re up against.

First and foremost, the Ghost Ships:

Cannonballs are the only weapon you should use against them, and they take three strikes to sink.

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

These Ghost Ships even have their own ghost cannonballs. They’re available in three distinct varieties.

Green ones act like regular cannonballs, yellow ones burn your ship on fire, and the huge loud screaming one acts like a flying barrel bomb. If this happens to you, you’ll need to work quickly to get things back under control.

And you should avoid following these ships at all costs since they dump phantom barrel bombs.

Above all, avoid crashing into the Ghost Ships, since they will leave you unharmed while punching a ridiculous number of holes in your hull.

But it’s not all terrible news.

Against the whole fleet, hit-and-run tactics are very effective.

Raise your sails for better control, then take potshots at the ships on the outside as you make your way around. You can take down the fleet one ship at a time if your helmsman is skilled enough to keep you away from large groupings of Ghost Ships.

Top 10 Hardest Bosses (And How To Beat Them) –source of image

After you’ve destroyed a few Ghost Ships, a Boss Ship will appear, guarded by a few other Ships.

These need a lot more pictures, but they can be handled in the same manner. When you beat a Boss Ship, they’ll drop some amazing glowing loot as well as storage boxes with additional cannonballs and planks.

The Boss Ship will take a ton of damage to sink at the conclusion of the third wave.

But if you’re victorious then your efforts will be rewarded with mountains of treasure & special cannonballs you can’t find anywhere else!

A fitting reward for a hardworking team.
