E3 is over, but the news never stops! Check out this weeks drop!

It’s that time of year again! While the big boys are busy going about their business in LA, we get to enjoy a little R&R and stay up to date with the latest gaming news. You can’t get much more exciting than a new Zelda, a new Smash, a new Mario, and a whole slew of new games from developers large and small.

After a long week of E3, it’s time to return to the regular PS5 Gamers news update. Of course, there’s more, like EA’s Play Live, which kicks off on the 22nd. The month of July will take place. So, without further ado, let us bring you this week’s news!

Sony has reintroduced the PlayStation Direct program, which includes an invitation to buy the PS5 directly from Sony. While the service is great for those hoping to get on the guest list, it looks like Sony will have to tweak the system a bit, as the company seems to have sent out invitations to gamers who already own a PS5 console. I don’t know if this is Sony’s concern or if they plan to fix the invite system, but it seems pretty frustrating for gamers waiting for the console. Sony obviously hasn’t answered any questions about this incident and probably won’t. If the company contacts me, I will provide feedback.

And something else: Sony may be offering its fans the next PlayStation Experience (PSX)! The company launched the PSX brand at 11. June 2023. It’s not a guarantee of a show, but it seems like a waste of the brand’s time if the show doesn’t go on, and it’s not a situation where they need to expand the brand to keep it going. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear an announcement for August or September. Sony has a lot to talk about in the near future, namely its reaction to Xbox Gamepass and its plans for the holiday season. In the meantime, I will hold my breath until we hear rumors.

Have you been looking forward to Battlefield 2024? It seems that many gamers are preparing for the next game by playing Battlefield 4. In fact, so many players from all platforms have returned to BF4 that EA is forcing developers to increase server capacity to handle the traffic. BF4 is now 8 years old, and I’m telling you now: Playing this game will not prepare you for Battlefield 2024. Play the game because you love it and can’t wait for the servers to light up again, but don’t think it will warm you up for the sequel. Nothing can prepare us for this except a beta, I assure you.

Speaking of EA (again), there are serious rumors that the company will bring back established IP. One business journalist, Jeff Grubb, seems to think so. He said in his tweet that we should expect a reveal next month if we don’t die first. This of course led to speculation that he was referring to the Dead Space series. While we should take these rumors with a grain of salt, Grubb has already managed to leak information about Mass Effect’s Legendary Edition, so it’s not like he’s making stuff up, but we’ll have to wait and see. To add to the plot, the lead developer of Assassins Creed left Ubisoft and happened to join EA Motive for an unannounced project…

Insomniac Games is currently hiring and looking for 5 positions for what appears to be an unannounced multiplayer game. In case you don’t know who Insomniac is: They developed a Spider-Man game for the PS4 in 2018. The match was excellent and was recently followed by Spider-Man Miles Morales in 2023. More recently, Insomniac released Ratchet and Clank: A Rift Apart. In other words: Insomniac Games has become one of the best development studios out there, and while I have no idea what they’re working on, I can’t wait to find out and let you guys know!

And a final word from me at this time. The fourth season of Call of Duty Black Ops has begun: Cold War and Warzone, and I have to say that Warzone (despite being a free game) is losing its appeal. The Season Pass isn’t that great this time around, and the drop in satellite count is certainly welcome, but I don’t think it’s enough to satisfy the desire for a real change on the map. I know we’ll probably see a new map when the next Cod game comes out, but I’d really like to see something before November of this year. I’m just saying.

Thank you very much for attending this week’s update. If anything changes, we’ll be sure to let you know!
