The information was discussed on the Windows Weekly podcast, rather than on the Open Whisper Systems blog where it would have been a blog post (or a tweet), but the message still holds: Windows 10 will only run on Windows 10.
Microsoft announced today that Windows 10 will require a processor with a TPM 2.0 chip or higher to operate. This is a great sign for people who want to use a PC for zero-day exploits, as all modern operating systems require one, and only TPM 2.0 chips are currently available.

Microsoft spokesman Steve Dispenza has confirmed that the current list of Intel and AMD processors that support Windows 11 is correct. These lists will evolve over time, but this means that users of older hardware, such as 7th generation Core processors, will need to be careful. Generation and first generation Ryzen processors, will not be able to install Windows 11 when it launches later this year. As some reporters have noted, this restriction is amusing because it means that many of Microsoft’s Surface products cannot be upgraded to Windows 11. Microsoft has also clarified that Windows 11 will require TPM 2.0 – previous company documents indicated that TPM 1.2 would meet the minimum security requirements for Windows 11.

- Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or higher with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system-on-chip (SoC)
- RAM: 4 Gigabyte (GB)
- Storage: Memory device of 64 GB or more
- System firmware : Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0
- Graphics card : Compatible with DirectX 12 or higher with WDDM 2.0 driver
- S-Mode is only supported in the Home version of Windows 11. If you are using a different edition of Windows in S mode, you must exit S mode before upgrading.
Microsoft confirms that Windows 11 will only run on 8th generation processors. Generation Plus will support. According to Microsoft, Windows 11 will not install on older processors. This means Microsoft’s own Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro (2017) and Surface Studio 2 ($3,499) will not be upgraded to Windows 11 https://t.co/tVbEbbKYDy.
